For referrers

Refer in two minutes, and know where it went.

We welcome referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, NDIS plan managers and allied health — and from people referring themselves. We work collaboratively, and we do a couple of things differently on purpose.

Same route, same inbox — this just saves the typing. Attach the plan or your letter and we take it from there. Include a reply address; we acknowledge within two business days and send a separate acceptance email once we have determined fit.

What happens next

The intake process, in four steps.

  1. 01

    Referral received

From you, or the client contacts us directly by phone, email or the web form.

  2. 02

    Getting to Know You questionnaire

Sent to the client, to check we are a good match before anyone commits.

  3. 03

    New client registration

Their details and history, in their own words.

  4. 04

Intake call, if forms are hard

A call from our Client Experience Officer, who does most of the registration over the phone. The online form is still our preference.

How we work with you

Three things we do differently.

01

Clients are copied in

Every emailed progress report goes to the client too. Everyone supporting them holds the same information.

02

Summary first, detail after

A short summary at the top for a busy clinic, and the full report underneath for whoever needs it.

03

We will actually talk to you

Happy to engage with GPs and the rest of a care team. Coordination is not an imposition.

Professional development

We will come to your clinic.

A certificate of attendance

We can attend clinics and provide information or CPD for referrers and allied health colleagues on the presentations we work with. Tell us what your team keeps running into.

Topics we are asked for

  • Neurodivergence — ADHD, autism, AuDHD
  • 2e and 3e presentations
  • LGBTIQA+ affirming care
  • Complex or unusual presentations

Certificates of attendance are provided for CPD sessions.

Questions

Questions referrers ask.

How do I refer?

Email the referral to hello@liminalclinic.com.au with a reply address. That is the only route — we do not use fax machines.

Do you accept referrals from practices that need faxed correspondence?

No. We are a paperless clinic and correspond by secure email only. If your practice requires faxed progress reports we are not able to work with it, and it is fairer to say that here than after a referral has been sent.

How quickly will you respond?

An acknowledgement within two business days of receiving the referral, and a separate acceptance email once we have determined we are a good fit. Two emails, deliberately — the first is a receipt, the second is an answer.

Do you provide progress reports?

Yes, with a short summary at the top for busy GPs and the comprehensive detail underneath. People are complex; you should not have to read four pages to find the one thing you needed.

Do you copy clients into reports?

Yes, into all emailed progress reports, so everyone supporting the person is working from the same information. This is deliberate and it is not negotiable — it is what client-centred means here.

Do you screen for anything routinely?

Neurodivergence and trauma, with every new client, as part of the first phase rather than as an add-on someone has to know to ask for.

Are you NDIS-registered?

No — we are not registered with the NDIA. Self-managed and plan-managed participants are welcome and we invoice the plan manager directly; agency-managed participants can't use us at this time.

Can you provide certificates of attendance?

Yes. Where a client needs one for work or study, we provide a certificate of attendance on request. We also provide them for CPD sessions we deliver to your team.

Can I refer someone who lives interstate or overseas?

Yes, by telehealth. WorkSafe claims are Victorian-only; Medicare and private arrangements work anywhere in Australia, and we see people internationally at our private fee.
