The terms that apply to browsing and using this website, separate from the terms of your care as a client.

General information, not clinical advice.

We are not a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. We do not monitor email, voicemail or web forms outside business hours, and nothing on this website is monitored in real time.

Who runs this website

This website is published by The Liminal Clinic, a private psychology practice in Prahran, Victoria (ABN 52 901 034 317). We trade as The Liminal Clinic and The Liminal Academy, and are also known by former names including Intersectional Psychology and Brydan Xavier Psychology. We operate from one location only: 386 Malvern Road, Prahran.

These terms are about the website. They are not your treatment agreement. If you become a client, the terms of your care are set out separately in our Client Terms of Service and the documents we give you at intake.

Everything on this website (service pages, FAQs, articles) is general information, written for a broad audience, not for you specifically.

It is not psychological, medical, legal or financial advice.
It is not a diagnosis, assessment or screening result. Only a proper assessment or consultation with a practitioner who knows your history can answer those questions.
It is not a substitute for an assessment or a consultation. Reading is not treatment.

Reading this website does not make you our client. No therapeutic relationship is created by reading this site, downloading something from it, or sending us an email. A practitioner-client relationship begins only once we have accepted you as a client and you have completed our intake and consent process. If you email us to describe something distressing, we are not monitoring that inbox as a clinical service. We reply within 2 business days, which is not fast enough for a crisis.

Please do not delay getting help because of something you read here. If you are worried about yourself or someone else, speak to a person: a GP, a psychologist, or one of the crisis lines above.

Who we are, and how you may use this site.

We are an adult service

The Liminal Clinic works with people aged 18 and over. We do not work with children or adolescents, and do not take referrals for people under 18. If you are under 18, or a parent looking for help for a young person, we will answer kindly and point you towards a service that works with young people:

Using this site

You're welcome to use this website to find out about us, read what we publish, and get in touch. We ask that you use it lawfully. Please do not: use the site unlawfully; try to access any part of the site or systems that isn't yours; interfere with the site: malware, scraping, denial-of-service; harvest personal information from the site for marketing; impersonate us; send unsolicited commercial messages through our forms; or submit false information, or someone else's confidential information.

Please do not send sensitive personal or health information through a web form or unencrypted email unless you're comfortable doing so. Email is not a secure channel.

Testimonials, liability and how to reach us.

Why there are no reviews or testimonials on this site

You will not find client reviews, star ratings or quotes about our clinical work anywhere on this website. Section 133 of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law prohibits advertising a regulated health service using testimonials: even if the statement is true, the client consented, and it's unpaid or anonymous. So we do not publish, ask for, embed or repost client reviews of our therapy.

This is a rule of law that applies to every registered health practitioner in Australia. What you can do instead: check our registration on the public Ahpra register; read what we actually say we do on our service pages; or give us feedback directly. We read it, we just cannot publish it.

Your rights come first

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified. Our services come with guarantees that they will be provided with due care and skill, be fit for any purpose you told us about, and be supplied within a reasonable time. Those guarantees cannot be signed away, and we are not trying to.

We have not written a blanket exclusion of liability, because for a health service that would be wrong, and it would likely be unlawful. What we do limit, to the extent the law allows: this site is provided "as is" without guaranteed uninterrupted availability; we are not liable for loss from relying on general website information instead of advice suited to you; and we are not liable for third-party sites we link to. We do not, and could not, limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything the law does not permit us to limit.

Changes, and where to go if something's wrong

We will not change any term that affects what you pay (fees, charges or payment terms) without giving at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect. Every version of this page carries a version number and effective date so you can see what changed.

Please tell us first if something goes wrong. Most problems are fixed quickly. Nothing in these terms prevents you from complaining to the Health Complaints Commissioner, Ahpra, the OAIC or the Australian Human Rights Commission at any time.

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
