How we work with you
How we work with this.
Trauma isn't always a single event. It can be developmental, relational, systemic, or identity-based — the accumulated harm of being marginalised, dismissed or unsafe.
We use EMDR and EMDR 2.0, Schema Therapy, ACT and trauma-informed CBT. Before we do any processing, we build safety and stability. We don't rush.
Your pace guides the process. You stay in control. And we talk about endings from the beginning, so therapy itself doesn't become another thing that ends badly.
Does any of this sound like you?
Trauma isn't only war and disaster. It can follow family violence, a relationship that hurt you, an assault, a car accident, something that happened at work, a fire or flood, or a crime. If you recognise yourself below, it's worth talking about — whether or not anyone has used the word PTSD.
It keeps coming back
Memories, nightmares or flashbacks that arrive uninvited — sometimes as images, sometimes just in your body, heart racing before you know why.
Re-experiencing →You avoid the reminders
Roads you won't drive, places you won't go, people or conversations you steer around. Life gets smaller so it stays safe.
Avoidance →You're always on alert
Jumpy, scanning rooms, sleeping badly, quick to anger. Your body hasn't been told it's over.
Hypervigilance →You feel numb or far away
Cut off from people you love, from your own feelings, or from your body — as if you're watching your life through glass.
Dissociation →The way you see yourself has changed
Shame, guilt, feeling permanently damaged or to blame. With complex or long-running trauma, this can become the loudest symptom of all.
Complex PTSD →Relationships feel harder than they used to
Trusting people, staying close, or knowing what's safe. Especially after violence from someone who was meant to care for you.
Complex PTSD →After a crime
Victims of Crime Assistance can fund counselling. We work carefully around statements, evidence and court, and we don't need you to relive it to help you.
Victims of Crime →After a car accident or at work
TAC and WorkSafe Victoria both fund psychology after an incident. We handle the approvals with you.
TAC and WorkSafe →Common topics
